Cattle stones are stones in the gallbladder, bile duct, or hepatic duct of bovid cattle or buffaloes, which are produced throughout the year. It is mostly taken from the gallbladder, and its shape is relatively round.
The commercial product is called bile yolk or egg yolk. Those taken from the bile ducts and hepatic ducts are tubular and called tube yellow.
This product is mostly oval, spherical, triangular, or square, with a diameter of 0.6-3 (~4.5) cm, and a few are tubular or fragmented.
Light in weight, crisp in texture, easy to peel off in layers, golden yellow in section, fine concentric layer patterns can be seen, and some have white cores.
The taste is fragrant, bitter, and then sweet, with a refreshing feeling, easy to chew, and not sticky to the teeth.
When slaughtering cattle, pay attention to whether there are hard lumps in the gallbladder, bile duct, and liver duct of the cattle. If there is any, it is bezoar.
Filter out the bile and take out the bezoar.
Remove the outer film, first wrap it with rushes or grass silk, and then wrap it with a white cloth or raw paper, and put it in a cool place to dry.
Note that after the cattle are slaughtered, if bezoar is found, it should be taken out as soon as possible.
If it is taken out too late, the bezoar will be soaked in bile, and the color will turn black, which will affect the quality.
In addition, when drying it, avoid wind, sun, and fire to prevent cracking or discoloration.
It can be stored in a dark brown glass bottle, or in an iron box packed in a plastic bag.
Store in a cool and dry place, with shading, airtight storage, moisture-proof, and pressure-proof.
Calculus bezoar should not be stored in cold storage, so as not to turn black and deteriorate and affect the quality.
1. The proportion of complete particles must reach more than 40%, and no 60-mesh powder should appear.
2. The main component of bezoar is bilirubin, and the content of bilirubin in the dry product should not be lower than 35% (water content should not exceed 9% in what is considered a dry product), and the content of heavy metals should meet the standard.
3. Dry, no smell, no rot.
4. Only natural bezoar is purchased, and any synthetic bezoar or products mixed with other impurities are rejected.
